    Using an American flag as a handkerchief is really gross. Does he blow his nose in it? Use it to wipe his face? Or is it strictly ceremonial, demoting the flag to an object that's traditionally used to clean up human secretions? All answers are bad.

    How can explain this to my liberal friends without sounding condescending? The big story here is NOT the firing of a Black woman. The big story is that Trump is putting in henchmen and consolidating control over all uniformed forces in the capital - with bad intent regarding democracy.

    Well, that’s not a thing. The Home Rule Act says POTUS can request the services of the police, not take them over and name a new “commissioner”. The Chief is still the Chief, and on day 31, the Mayor can stop granting the POTUS request for the services of MPD.
