Since @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social is so concerned about @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social housing maybe he should address his own property tax bill of just $213 a year thanks to a sweetheart deal he supported when he served in the state Assembly that will last through 2032. nypost.com/2022/01/23/r...
Exclusive | Rep. Hakeem Jeffries pays just $200 in property taxes thanks to sweetheart subsidy law
Public records show that Jeffries and his family reside in a condo unit in Prospect Heights, paying just $213 a year in property taxes.

It’s both saddening and infuriating.

This remains one of the most effective (and bleakest) data visualisations I've seen.
It's a good one to point to when people say that Covid is seasonal or - more commonly - 'over'.
Early on, there really was a chance to beat it back, but globally, our politicians - and many of us - chose not to.

Really lovely and insightful 🧵, especially when it comes to "panic mode" and finding the way through in the room.
A few years into my TV writing career, I was struggling! But one simple piece of advice changed the entire trajectory of my career. So I wanted to do a #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread about that advice and the ways in which CREATIVITY CAN FLOURISH (and also how it wanes).

You know that classic Edward Hopper painting evoking isolation and despair? We used AI to make it look terrible for no reason

I just can't support Zohran Mamdani.
New York is a city of tradition. Our values are what make it special, and Zohran would destroy a pillar of NYC culture:
The mayor HAS to suck. Just be a total piece of shit. We're a bad mayor city, baby.
Stop good mayors. Stop Mamdani. Save New York City

chaser
I think it's hard for non–New Yorkers to comprehend just how far from a "legitimate issue" this is. There is no social expectation that a person who has money decline to move into a rent-stabilized apartment, never mind move out of one if they get money after they move in.
Literally none. Zero.
