For the record, our division commander BANNED things called “presence patrols” in Iraq.
“If you don’t have a specific task & purpose, your ‘presence’ doesn’t do anything.”
National Guard stating they are now doing presence patrols in DC.
A complete waste of soldier’s time & effort.
I agree that patrolling DC is a complete waste of time for our Guardsmen, but I'd like Gen. Hertling to explain more about "presence patrolling." In normal circumstances, isn't it better to establish control of an area BEFORE trouble breaks out?
Our own recent experiences and history as a nation isn't enough to answer this question in your mind?
