Being a veteran is at least a record of "public service". Not political, but it's not nothing.

I think the solution to gerontocracy isn't that literal. Structure elections around party lists. People shouldn't care much about individual politicians. MMPR fixes this, mostly.
-
But really what people mean when they think about crime is visible homelessness and mental illness.
-
In general this is true, however in New York City there is actually a significant rise in felony assaults. Car jackings in DC are actually up. Crime is not a crisis but there has been some breakdown since 2019.

Bobby jr is lying here (you still need to have a risk factor, not just "consult with your doctor")

It doesn't even have to be this literal - it can just be "ESPN will show whatever it wants and we'll move another game to a similar value slot for them" or whatever. Include contingencies in the deal, discount their value accordingly so it's not a huge shock. Buy insurance. Lots of options!
-
We've been building systems around weather contingencies for decades, centuries - this is not rocket science!
-
And then incorporate this into the broadcast deals - "OK you can have this game in this location at this time, but in the 20% chance that the forecast says it'll be too hot, here's plan B"
-
Set a threshold such that there is sufficient tolerance that the league can mostly rely on forecasts 1-2 days out (i.e. pick a target threshold where, if it's a little over, it's not a disaster)
