putting aside the trans rights issues specifically (lol), I think part of what has me so frustrated with the Newsom thing is that Pritzker, Walz, and Zohran are putting on clinics for a popular, progressive politics and we’re wasting time talking about this used car salesman ass goblin.

Yes! This is the time to find the best candidate, and also to pressure the party to stop trying to be GOP-lite and instead to move left. It is not the time to jump on a bandwagon just because he's the party leadership's Chosen One, or because his staff knows how to use AI.

I may be in the minority here, but I've found the Gavin Newsom act to be depressing. It feels like a tacit acknowledgement that we can no longer communicate about national politics without acting like bloviating trolls. There are enough wannabe edgelords in the world. We didn't need another one.

Voters remember visuals which are the signature of Newsom's material. The goal would be for other Dems to see that usefulness and make more memorable visuals. We should have seen dozens of Dem-candidate copycats already.
