Personally, I think it's important to vote, or at the least go to the polls and scrawl "None of the above" on the ballot paper, because they do count numbers of spoiled ballots and if that number is higher than normal it's a voice of dissent rather than apathy. They'll see those numbers...
...and will be more inclined to look into why people spoiled their ballots. They can ignore non voters. Non voters don't have a voice at all, those who vote, or spoil ballots at least have some voice. It night feel like a whisper in a hurricane but enough folks do it and it becomes a scream.

I'm absolutely not saying you have to vote for someone who doesn't represent your values, or for a party who is actively trying to remove your rights. But going to the polls and writing "All these folks are c*nts, they do not represent me" on your voting slip, is a viable, legitimate protest.
