Regarding the 1st time homebuyer crisis: From Gen X on,most milestones are pushed back a decade. Marriage closer to 30 than 20, kids in the 30s. Back in the day,we got married in our early 20s, had our kids before 30,& finished college along the way.1980 interest rates? 12 5%! Think on that one.

As a non-New Yorker: We're they building better housing in the lower East Side and replacing the old tenements? By the 1920s, some of the immigrant groups were 2nd generation, and beginning to rise economically. Was that a reason?
