    “Managing grandpa for self-preservation” is not the same as “doing a populism.” Also, I respect the hell out of Mamdani, hate my mayor’s guts for her behavior when Trump-adjacent, and also realize that the former two are probably in tension with each other.

    Kramer added that he believes his Senate colleagues are also largely backing Ferguson because they’re also thinking “to a degree” about the effect redrawing maps would have on them. Depending on how long it takes to finalize new congressional maps, Kramer said, Senate Democrats would have to hold their primaries at a later date, affording their primary challengers more time to campaign against them — all at a time where Democrats predict voter turnout will be low due to the summer holidays. “That weighs in to some degree in the thought process of uncertainty,” Kramer said.
