one thing to remember about "ICE is going to occupy Democrat strongholds" is that ICE, if it hires to capacity, will employ about 26k people by the end of 2026, which is 1/3 smaller than the NYPD, which is not a large enough police force to occupy New York City itself.
ICE is supplemented by other federal law enforcement in addition to state and local law enforcement. they can also turn to deputizing civilians such as bounty hunters and military contractors.
they only truly need to secure influence over the election administration in a handful of counties

Simple! Just deputize random people and we’re good! No it’s actually difficult and dangerous to pull off a military coup. If it were simple to do and often successful you would see it a lot more and not just in extreme situations.
