“If they run, we go” -ICE

ICE has shown no signs of slowing down its raids, which, according to our analysis, appear targeted. From car washes to Home Depots, to a display of force and intimidation, these masked agents have stretched across LA, rounding up people with brown skin.

Armed officers, frequent use of force and people grabbed on the street or at their places of work. Working with @evidentmedia.org and @calmatters.org we have monitored the LA raids, discovering recurring trends and tactics used by officers. www.bellingcat.com/news/2025/07...

  1. pausing to express gratitude for this work - it's the kind of investigation driven, concrete-issue focused, and community centered work that I wish was more standard in popular news media right now.

also, I used to work on intimate image harms as well, and I wish you success and good health.

  2. But if they're real criminals who actually might be armed? ICE doesn't go there. That might get them hurt or even killed. Lots of unarmed taco vendors and sick kids to kidnap instead to meet their quotas.

  3. the supreme court has ruled that simply running from police on sight does NOT provide a reasonable suspicion that an articulable crime has been committed, and therefore it is unlawful to pursue on that basis alone.

  4. This was a labor of love for my hometown. I will always be proud of being from LA, and I'm glad to have been part of the large team effort looking into the ICE raids.

This story is personal. I'm a child of immigrants. My father came here as a refugee, an unaccompanied minor. My mother, a student.
