Just finished listening to Wild Faith by @swordsjew.bsky.social and I am floored at how complete a picture it builds of US Evangelicalism. I’m grateful, too. Coming from inside that world, it’s been maddening to watch people be so dismissive of the danger.

I’ve lost my entire family to the crap, minus a couple people. Their brains are absolute mush. Evangelicalism is a mental illness.

  1. I grew up deep in it, and got out as an adult. What Lavin really gets with this book is that we can’t just roll our eyes and laugh at them - it’s a powerful, dangerous movement doing incredible harm to society and to individual people, including its own members.
