Remembering when an earlier Red Sox ownership group was pushing for a public-money new ballpark & thus were claiming that Fenway Park was doomed to collapse because of the instability of the ground.
Never believe the owners, friends. They don’t even understand what they have, let alone love it.

I think I read the Schiller -years- ago, but if so now my memory is very vague. I think the Turn of the Screw connections seem spot on.
I feel like I want to wait a few weeks, then go back and see what comes out a second time through. I actually don’t remember when I started to really doubt.

Good morning, friends, from Boston! Some FDR content from last night at Fenway for y’all.

The twins being there but I think never given names and rarely actively there? The way that Camille is (mostly) just accepted when she arrives unannounced? There’s ghostly doings and signs of oddity early, and they accumulate.

I’ve had very similar feelings about his novels: They’re mood & thought books way more than they’re mysteries. I honestly don’t yet know what to make of this one now that I’m finished, though I think you’re tugging at the right threads, and you’ve made some connections I hadn’t yet.

Thank you!!!

@jtkantor.bsky.social Out-of-town guest here sitting with my friend of 30+ years @maura. Any chance I could hear “Ring of Fire”?

Play ball. Let’s go, Sox.

Maybe this fall I’ll read nothing but sea stories, play nothing but shanties at the piano, watch nothing but nautical movies.
