The Trump Administration claims to have swept and closed 70 DC homeless encampments. There are two left. They posted at them to warn them to get out. They gave them a choice, go to a shelter or we will place you in an addiction and mental health facility or jail.
They’ve criminalized poverty.
SCOTUS had already ruled last year that being homeless can be criminalized. Of course this regime wants to enforce this with cruel and extreme measures.
The decision is a win for Western cities that wanted more powers to manage record homelessness. But advocates for the unhoused say the decision will do nothing to solve the larger problem
