Of course I oppose slavery and support trans rights. I bet we vote very similarly. I wish we had more perfect candidates, too. I vote for best available. If it ends up Newsom vs Trump, I'd have no problem figuring out which candidate and party most threaten the people and issues I care about.

When disagreeing on some point with like-minded people, I like to recognize the abundant points we have in common before making a disagreeable point. Characters limits fuck that flow up.

Expect, no. But if the only choices on the ballot are A, whose party guarantees slavery or B, who personally endorses enslavement but whose party is mostly opposed and doesn't grant absolute power, then B is the better choice. Waiting for the perfect B only lets the A's keep running things.

Oyay! Oi-yay! O-yez! Marshals have some disagreements, too. Or so I’ve heard.

Are there any other beliefs you hold parents 100% responsible for, or just racism? Like kids can change religions, political affiliation, cultural views, etc., but on this racism thing, if someone holds racist views, you're full stop convinced parents were the only credible influence?
-
Respectfully disagree. Mostly this thread blames parents for racist kids, no matter what. My point is that's often true, but sometimes kids come by their own beliefs despite parental influence. It's commonplace for parents and children to adopt beliefs that horrify each other, despite best efforts.

Consider parents much more awful than yours, then. Abusive, neglectful, intolerant, etc. Anyone would concede that's a lot to overcome, yet some people do, against all odds, turn out to be decent people despite such terrible ubringings. Good or bad, parents don't guarantee any outcome.
-
Some of the dunkers probably even had/have racist parents but take pride (as they should) in overcoming that to turn out not racist themselves. Parental influence is obviously not the only factor in how someone turns out, but dunkers here are forgetting that can work for the better, too.
-
"Good parenting" can't just mean raising a kid to have the same beliefs, right? If it's a non-racist parent, I want that outcome, but if it's a white nationalist parent, I do not. To leave room for people to overcome bad childhoods, I have to believe that parental influence is not irreversible.

After the "stupid, uneducated" start, whatever you said next was guaranteed to get flamed. You could have written "water is wet" second and the first sentence would have gotten people to argue that water is dry. I blame your parents who clearly raised you to begin replies with insults.
