I think a burka is grotesque. But a hijab can be very beautiful and I wouldn’t favor banning it but I understand a society like this one being uneasy about a massive cultural shift.

There’s no need to be polite or defensive in response to this. Invoking faith as an excuse to shun responsibility deserves no respect.

Everyone understands, Fred. Those of you who’ve lived this unspeakable horror obviously appreciate being held close in thoughts and prayers and empathy and vigils. But it’s an insult when uttered by those with no no intent to stop the insanity— when they hold the power. Empty words of pure cruelty.
