Digital assault that shut down St. Paul services was a ransomware attack, city officials say
In an ongoing effort to restore systems, St. Paul will reset passwords for 3,500 employees in the next few days.

I think I had to explain this to 5 different people around town that asked me about it. And each time they gave me ”but how do you know?”
To which I then had to give them a lengthy explanation of the different attack patterns and profiles of such.

There's an organisation here in the UK that was significantly hit by a 'cyber incident' a few years back that has never outright itself said that it was the ransomware it clearly was.
That's despite the NCSC stating it was ransomware in their annual report...
