Whether the government runs it, or a private corporation runs it, it still costs the taxpayers. But the private corporation will be MORE expensive. Same with healthcare. Or the postal service.

Treasury is required to produce a report to Congress related to Direct File, the free tax filing option that the current administration intends to kill. They've created a survey with a bunch of leading questions. The survey deserves some responses supportive of the program to counteract its framing:

Of note: they tell you how much it costs for the government to run the free filing system, but they don’t tell you how much it would cost to have a private corporation do it. (Hint: it would cost taxpayers more to have a private corporation do it.)

Donald Trump is attempting to manufacture a crisis, politicize Americans who serve in uniform, and continue abusing his power to distract from the pain he's causing families.
