  1. And of course this is during a healthcare workforce shortage affecting many of these exact roles....b/c MAHA? see: bhw.hrsa.gov/data-researc... & nihcm.org/newsletter/r... & bhw.hrsa.gov/sites/defaul... & nri-inc.org/media/tghpz5...

As I retired nurse, I think it’s a slap in the face to all nurses. Major disrespect. Nursing is a noble profession.

  3. I might say some are para-professional which maybe requires an associates. But they aren't really, some of these require masters degrees. Certainly physical therapy, speech therapy, and counseling do.

  4. IMO, this policy change should not provoke a pissing contest comparing the validity of various degrees.

Instead we should be talking about: (1) how ppl whose American dream is a nursing career will afford school & (2) how healthcare will be delivered in a system where PAs provide most primary care.

  5. Hmmm... many of these are related service providers who provide dedicated minutes to children with IEPs in public schools under the IDEA. What is the implication for special education and educational access for children with disabilities, under an already gutted IDEA compliance regime?

  6. My understanding is that those were already not regarded as professional degrees, but the news is related to a part of the BBB that limits federal loans based on the arbitrary classifications of how "professional" a degree is

  7. Well, I hope the next time Felon47 has his 3rd-time-this-year annual physical, all of the Nurses, PAs, and everyone else that is no longer deemed a “professional” tell him to f*ck right off and refuses to treat him.

  8. Do they think AI will replace these professions or maybe they are just planning to extremely limit access to healthcare.

Because we have a shortage of these now and it would be pretty bad to put up more barriers to get a pipeline going.

  9. My public health degree taught me to think critically, to work in coalition and center affected communities. Of course they’re scared of that- it teaches us to challenge what they’re trying to spoon feed us.

Social work: so invalid, it bears repeating 🤣 I’m a SW, I laugh to cope but this is appalling. So do I get to double as a PT just because when a pt says they need one?

  11. By their own definition, counseling is a professional occupation. It requires a master's degree and a license to practice, which requires continuing ed to renew every two years. They can't even issue a coherent policy that doesn't contradict itself. Has no one questioned them about this?

  12. To repeat myself. Thank medicine for profit for this. They do not want to pay for Professionals. It hurts their bottom line. THIS IS WHY TRUMP IS TRYING TO SHUT DOWN HIGHER EDUCATION. HE WANTS A NEW WORLD ORDER OF SLAVES ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY.

  13. 😡 What idiots. In functional neurological disorders alone, which are common, therapists have to be specifically trained in order to help these patients. And doctors (“true professionals” according to The List) often know nothing. Maddening.
