I thought immigration came under civil law. Saying someone is an illegal immigrant is akin to illegal divorce or builds an illegal addition (compared to saying builds an un-permitted addition). Calling these acts “illegal” is nonsensical since all are civil matters.

Shoplifting is a civil matter like visas are? I thought theft was part of criminal law? I thought being out of status was more similar to a speeding ticket. It’s not something that should get you arrested let alone shackled and disappeared.

It never occurred to me that big tech would invest more in generating text that appears to be correct rather than is actually correct. Making up answers when you can’t find an exact match is a much simpler algorithm. But to deploy text generators you know make stuff up is a … choice.
