The League strongly condemns Texas's harmful new maps, which were designed to silence voters and rig elections. Texans deserve fair maps drawn to reflect their communities — not partisan lines manipulated to entrench power.

LWV of Tarrant County and partners filed a lawsuit in Tarrant County district court challenging mid-decade redistricting that reduced the electoral power of Black and Latino voters.

Gerrymandering is a threat to democracy, regardless of who does it. When it comes to redistricting, the League has a decades-long record of opposing partisan gerrymandering by both major parties, including recently in Texas. We know who loses in this kind of fight: Black and brown voters. (2/5)
