  1. the best thing I can say about Newsom’s campaigning is, wouldn’t it be dope to have a 2028 primary where everyone was running on their record of meaninful, concrete, actions-not-words fascism resistance and Newsome redistricting California was like 6th place behind people who did even bigger shit

I'd like it if more Dems would do exactly this, because I very much do NOT care for Gavin and would like an alternative pls. I'll be very pissed if we wind up in an "I can't spare this man; he fights" situation.

  2. one of the questions at trivia last night was about Vampire Weekend covering a song at Outside Lands but flubbing the lyrics. unfortunately, the real answer is pretty boring ("Yellow" by Coldplay) & the answer we put down is now a cover that I really wish existed in the world ("Blank Space" by TS)

  3. oh my God, just find a podcast where a couple of friends read & summarize & crack jokes about the latest bestseller you don't really want to read. It's more joyful than this!

(this is the only way I've ever experienced "Twilight," "50 Shades," or "Fourth Wing," & likely the only way I care to)

I wish I could I was more surprised at a budding tech journalist using Google's "accurate, source grounded" Gemini skin to read entire books. 400-page YA novels (by Tracy Deonn)... that she doesn't really want to read... but feels like she HAS to read to keep up with friends? There's so much to say

Once the PDF version of the book was uploaded to my notebook and processed by NotebookLM, it was time to actually begin reading. Before diving into NotebookLM's most iconic features like Audio Overviews and Mind Maps, I decided it was best to start with the basics: just asking questions.

So, I started by sending the following in-depth prompt:

I’ve tried reading this book multiple times but I’ve never made it past the first few chapters. I’d really like to finally understand it, not just skim through, but actually absorb what it’s about.

Think of it like this: I want to walk away feeling like I’ve read the book, even if I didn’t read every single page myself. Can you help me get familiar with everything I need to know? I’m looking for a full overview. Tell me about key characters, plot points, themes, chapter summaries, and any important quotes or turning points. Tell me everything!

  4. While it's disappointing that Gaynor is playing nice with the MAGA crowd, as someone who's worried about the anti-feminist turn our culture is taking, there is a part of me that's kind of relieved that they're still willing to honor a Black woman who's most famous for a feminist anthem
