My personal gold standard is Walt Simonson’s run in the 90s (translation: the comics I read when I was 14 will always secretly be “the best”). Hickman’s run? Loved the ideas, but the rotating artists made it feel like channel surfing.

And man—I wish we got a Tim Sale prestige series with the Fantastic Four. Pretty sure he drew Ben in Daredevil: Yellow but not in Hulk: Grey. My trades are juuuust out of reach. Anybody remember? A whole series of moody, blocky Ben Grimm shapes he could’ve carved… alas.

  1. The Thing is forever the sad second fiddle. He’ll never be the Hulk. He knows it. We know it. And that’s what makes him great. Oh—and shoutout to the Reilly/Mosley miniseries where Ben actually got laid in full rock-monster form. Not a weird gag. Just a story beat. It was… a choice.
