Anyway. I love drawing the Thing. What's your favorite run featuring him?

The Thing is forever the sad second fiddle. He’ll never be the Hulk. He knows it. We know it. And that’s what makes him great. Oh—and shoutout to the Reilly/Mosley miniseries where Ben actually got laid in full rock-monster form. Not a weird gag. Just a story beat. It was… a choice.

And man—I wish we got a Tim Sale prestige series with the Fantastic Four. Pretty sure he drew Ben in Daredevil: Yellow but not in Hulk: Grey. My trades are juuuust out of reach. Anybody remember? A whole series of moody, blocky Ben Grimm shapes he could’ve carved… alas.

My personal gold standard is Walt Simonson’s run in the 90s (translation: the comics I read when I was 14 will always secretly be “the best”). Hickman’s run? Loved the ideas, but the rotating artists made it feel like channel surfing.

By the time Kirby had a couple issues under his belt, he locked in the Thing. Big rock slabs, sad eyes, sweet-tempered brawler energy. Folks keep trying to tweak the design, but the closer it is to classic Kirby, the better it sings.

Meanwhile, wasn't Fanta subsidized by Eros? Maybe Image needs a Fairy/Wizard Kink line?
