Totally agree about the Tyranny of the Minority created by so many small populace states w/ 2 Senate votes. Why 2 Dakotas? And why is there Wyoming at all. It’s a square w/ no natural borders that’s adjacent to 6 other states that could easily absorb their 1/2 million residents. 🤬
it was an accommodation to slave holders. don't remember the details, but Confederates were all over it.
Other way! These states were created post-Civil War, to pack the Senate in favor of Republicans... who were, at the time, the closest thing to a "civil rights" party there was.
One century and a big party-position swap later, here we are.
