What the hell: The US accidentally invaded Mexico on Monday, storming a beach and planting DoD “restricted area” signs claiming the land for “the commander,” and triggered a standoff with armed Mexican security forces, all because Trump’s government can’t even identify a border on a map. 🧵 1/

Mexico tore the signs out. The Pentagon admitted the troops “miscalculated” the boundary.

The US Embassy in Mexico said the following about the incident: "Changes in water depth and topography altered the perception of the international boundary's location." 2/

  1. If Mexico did this, with the same excuse, does anyone believe the Trump people would have said, that's okay. These people think they can keep bulldozing anyone and everyone. When wrong, have it just go away

  2. Because the pentagon doesn’t know about, oh say geo location software. Maybe they thought changing the name to Gulf of America meant all of Mexico is US territory.

  3. Ah yes blame it on climate change (changes in water depth). What a fucking clown show

  4. Fuck em up Mexico. It’s ok to kill these mother fuckers if they’re invading your country.

  5. Gosh darn it, Our impoverished military apparently doesn't have any access to GPS or any geo positioning information or satellite information or paper maps or AAA Travel Tiks or anything

Poor poor underfunded military Someone get them AAA

Trump and Hegseth got caught trying to expand US borders

  6. Bullshit! Just like everything they do. More corrupt than any third world nation with the purse strings of our 1st world taxpayers money and a bully at the helm. It was on purpose.

  7. An inexpensive hand-held GPS unit would have shown where the border was. Oh, wait -- they'd have to begin by looking at a map. Probably too difficult.

  8. Yep and the clouds made the satellite maps blurry and fuck the incompetence of this president and his clown cabinet

  9. They had to be really stupid. Anyone knows that if you coming ashore left of the Rio Grande is México and right if it is USA. What a fucking joke these people are

  10. THAT is a BULLSHIT excuse.. I know for a FACT that troops DON'T rely on paper maps, they rely on GPS, which is NEVER affected by "shifting sands" and "water depth"...

  11. Coming: We miscalculated the button pressure required to set off the nuclear weapons. Sorry about that!

  12. Idiots are running the country. Idiots of a new kind, the MAGA kind. Hegseth, Trump, Bessent, Bondi, and the rest: mega-idiots, dumber than you can imagine, and proud to prove to the world just how stupid they are.

  13. Changes in water depth and topography, blah, blah, blah. Nothing but embarrassing excuses when US military GPS positioning is accurate down to a few inches. "The military’s Precise Positioning Service (PPS) can achieve accuracy within a few centimeters" trackhawkgps.com/blog/how-acc....

GPS is essential in everything from navigation to military use. But how accurate is it? This article explores GPS precision and the factors that affect it.

  14. Yes, they are all living in an altered reality with millions of miscalculations on a daily basis. No more Republicans for God sakes. They are so freaking stupid.

  15. Perhaps Trump's lackies, including in the military, need to learn about the Global Positioning System. Or hire a surveyor (who will definitely have heard about this new-fangled "GPS").

  16. No just a stupid ass stunt by totally inept unqualified morons calling the shots. Our military deserves better!

ACCIDENTALLY? THAT'S LIKE ACCIDENTALLY INVADING WASHINGTON DC!

  18. …because who would have thought along a shoreline you would ever encounter “changes in water depth and topography”?
<<Narrator: the gays, that’s who. People with facial hair, that’s who. Women in service, that’s who.>>

  19. My brother is a fishing guide on border lakes with Canada. GPS has made it that if you are over the border, you are over the border. No excuses. If a civilian in the middle of a lake can be held accountable, certainly our military, "T he best in the world" can tell where they are.

  20. “Changes in water depth and topography”??

Apparently our military is relying on tidal charts; is GPS too “woke” for them?? 🙄

  21. Excuse me, but I can't find where the Pentagon "admitted the troops miscalculated the boundaries".

May be this was just a stupid mistake, but In both Al Jazeera and CBS reports, the US Embassy in Mexico shares a comment from Pentagon in which the second sentence reads far from admitting anything.

What has the US said about this incident?

On Tuesday, the US Embassy in Mexico shared a comment from the Pentagon, stating that US "contractors" had placed signs beside the Rio Grande, marking "National Defense Area III".

"Changes in water depth and topography al-tered the perception of the international boundary's location," the statement said. "Government of Mexico personnel removed 6 signs based on their perception of the interna-tional boundary's location."

The Pentagon added that the contractors would work with "appropriate agencies to avoid confusion in the future".

  22. Context: Monday Trump said "Would I launch strikes on Mexico to stop drugs? It's OK with me. Whatever we have to do to stop drugs." 3 days later we plant signs on their beach saying it's US Department of Defense property & anyone entering could be searched/detained. This could have gone VERY badly.

  23. Who cares what the U.S. Embassy in Mexico says!

Americans what to hear from Mexico’s President on this matter! We hope SHE is pissed at the buffoons from the USA. Such idiots.

  24. lol this administration doesn’t know where the border is but they’re securing it for sure

  25. Sounds kinda like a climate change thing...no? Maybe they need a sextant or something. They were probably invading Venezuela and made a wrong turn?

  26. This doesn’t sound much like a military focused on lethality.

Sounds like a military that needs remedial orienteering sessions.

And an actual Secretary of Defence.
