Exactly. Most of the time, kids don't make decisions after thinking something through all the way and weighing the damn pros and cons. Lol. They're kids. They act first, most of the time. So "deterrents" like the threat of detention are useless. Which is how you know that's not the point of it.

Most kids brains don't even work like that. Presence of forethought is not something most middle schoolers have. Detention is ridiculous.
