As a hold-my-nose-and-vote Democrat since the late 80s, I respect this take, but I contend that Trump’s increasingly waning support is all the evidence you need that it’s a cult of the Perfect Businessman. Rs don’t have anyone who can begin to take his place. Vance? You kidding me?
Trump is evil but he is largely irrelevant, he’s not really in charge and is part of a larger criminal network. If Trump were to die, the MAGA network would just prop up another figurehead. Trump is a representative of oligarchy not the head of it.

VA is a disaster right now. I generally don't trust the private sector with my healthcare, yet had wrist surgery three weeks ago at Baylor Scott & White in Dallas because VA couldn't handle it. First time I've had a major procedure or serious condition treated outside the military or VA since 1996.
