I'm an applied economist interested in how we get better at interacting with natural systems.

Personal account, mostly focused on economic development and global public health. Some chess, football etc.

  1. The corollary to this is that climate discourse often overestimates the feasibility of socio-political policy choices relative to technological approaches.

    1. Most people demanding unilateral climate policy measures do not comprehend game theory and that other agents optimize based on your expected action. Related: we also hear too many technical voices as experts on climate matters and too few who analyze the political aspects of it in public.

  2. This is correct.

The main strategic insight I've garnered from chess is that I can lose to small children.

    1. Chess does not at all train your mind for anything except for thinking on 8x8 squares with a pre-defined set of figures. It's fun but people who mistake it for an education in strategic thinking could not be more wrong.

  3. Really don't know where to start with this...

It's a sample of 55 people, 12 of whom dropped out.

86% of them have tertiary education; 44% are nurses.

The authors stratify on multiple dimensions but don't control for them.

The only difference is in water mass, which is not in the balance table
