One of your commitments to your allies is never checking what they do with the weapons. Which is convenient because they keep using them to kill civilians en masse.
At some point the commitment becomes complicity, and I'd say that point passed decades ago.

I kept thinking about the criticism of Michael Schur defaulting to 'goofy, dysfunctional family' in his string of sitcoms set in intensely politically-charged places. I think you could make a strong satire of a megachurch or the NYPD, but to do so you'd need much more contempt for your characters

Oh 100%, and you can imagine people higher up the chain being hesitant to give the Daikatana guy a bunch of money. There's a real risk that he makes Daikatana again. But that same class of people are giving Sam Altman money so they're clearly not allergic to bad products or anything!
