Basically every handgun legally carried by carry-licensed people is a semi-auto, so invalidating that nationwide will never get legal traction. Also, ammo tracking is technologically infeasible, there have been all sorts of attempts at systems to do this, and none of them work.

When a large percentage of these problem people have long lists of run-ins with the law, prior convictions, and numerous complaints from people around them, we want them to be locked-away in a cell or institution before they can do this. First we need to end soft plea deals and catch and release.

Not at all feasible from a technical aspect. Also, semi-autos have been made since 1894 or thereabouts; When you’re ready to give-up the internet, electricity, and go everywhere in a horse-drawn carriage, you can promote resetting other parts of society back to the 1800’s.

They didn’t imagine anything like television or the internet, but they also didn’t specify a quill and paper or printing press in the 1st Amendment either; They expected technology to evolve, but for the Bill of Rights to still apply.
