Wasting away in the suburbs metro Detroit. Here for a long time, not a good time.

  1. My utility company, DTE Energy, took the position that these needed to be moved from inside the house and repositioned along our narrow 1950s driveways without guarding. I wouldn't have imagined hitting one would be quite this catastrophic...

  2. ...and much of the reason American made is $10k is that the raw material has tariffs and distributors of that are adding padding. In order to boost US manufacturing, we have to melt more steel here, and/or subsidize the overseas raw material, instead of taxing it.

  3. Those are imported parts, which creates the illusion that the tariffs are working. I've been quoting the imported parts to be made here. We don't have all steel grades made in the US, so we have to buy imported raw material. The raw material markup is higher than completed parts. This is just a tax.

  4. I am making Cybercab parts. Texas is getting driverless cars -but- they are connecting each car remotely with a human at a computer. He'll have a steering wheel and pedals on his end, like a video game, ready to intervene when the robot inevitably tries to kill. I am not joking about this.
