It’s all about misdirecting the stupid and naive away from the real issue: Immigrants are stealing your jobs, foreign countries are giving us a bad deal, etc. And the real issue is massive domestic financial inequality and a system of government that’s allowed the rich to get way too powerful.

The GOP is constantly trying to rig the rules of the game so they can stay in power. They don’t aim to stay in power by serving the majority. They aim to do it through disinformation, deportation, gerrymandering, and in my humble opinion cheating as much as they possibly can get away with.
