Most “Americans,” don’t realize that this was an American phenomenon. People from all over the world came to North and South America to find opportunity, and that thousands still move within the western hemisphere searching for a place that fulfills this promise, going both in and out of the U.S.

Some of you may scoff at that and say America never was that, but that is not the point. It is a dream of what America should be, and what it could be if we could stop with all the stupid pettiness.

The meta-narrative for the pro-democracy forces has to be “Trump is breaking everything and making everything worse to protect and enrich the rich. We need to get rid of Trump, close up the loop holes he exploited, and put the government back to work for average people.”
