I did not know this, thanks so much! I use the library a ton for books but not programs because I thought it would be putting unnecessary pressure on them when I could pay. But no longer! Love my library.

So interesting. Just reading @benjaminnathans.bsky.social fabulous book "To The Success of Our Hopeless Cause" and learned about this minutes ago.

Yes!!!

The entire piece has a "what hath we wrought" quality.

I used to think Chopin was beautiful but tinkly music. I have been totally unprepared for how unsentimental yet emotional it is. Even practicing it makes me tired. 6/n

The final section is utterly beautiful of course, still unplayable by an amateur like me. Voicing the melody, keeping it all in check, exploding at the right time - Chopin, Chopin, why do you make it so hard for the rest of us? 5/n

Let's not even talk about the octave to chord leaps in the second section which I thought was going to be easier and am now crying at the difficulty of. 4/n

The first section: the hardest part is getting to the second note in the right hand. It is simply unreachable. Not physically but musically (for me). 3/n

It's a bit crazy to realize that six months ago, I didn't know it existed. Now I am trying to play it. 2/n

Too much is wrong with the world today. Which is why I want to talk about how I have only recently been exposed to the Chopin Nocturne Op 48/1 and how many good things have I missed so far? 1/n
