I understand the point arguing but all politics are identity politics & these immutable characteristics, such as race, are not incidental in American history, law, economics or severable from other identities such as class. So, What is the point of all this consternation over identity politics?

One of the lasting impacts of hurricane Katrina is that it really changed how African American millennials understood racism in American society.
Terms like institutional & systemic racism entered the pop cultural lexicon & a generation of future advocates discovered critical race theory.

Something I notice in the entire discourse about the male loneliness epidemic, the crisis of masculinity, and the manosphere is the absence of male voices that are not lonely or in a crisis of masculinity.
It seems to me that exploring how these dudes feel about all of this is a good research line
