This is way way worse even than the NYT article makes it out to be

We should literally employ at least as many people as are in the US military to pick up trash, plant and care for trees, and a million other things. And also not give them guns or fly them around the world to support US empire / global trade
I have a real problem with this framing. I agree the National Guard shouldn't be picking up trash in DC but it's not because sanitation work isn't an "actual job" - it's because we should pay actual local people living wages to do this and we don't because the military is our Jobs Program
