Religion predates capitalism and is about wish thinking, social control, and power structures.
So it still wouldn't be good.

If you ever hear an economist make projections without more couches than a furnture store, they are lying and/or incompetent.
Without those 'if' or 'unless' factored in ZERO prewar economies would survive the first year of a conflict.
A competent economist can couch this adequately for the layman.
