Letters and documents are still deliverable. It's parcels that are suspended.

I can't even send a picture book from NZ to my American nephew because NZ post has suspended parcel service to US even for individuals.

Did you go to Nelson, Picton, Blenheim or Wellington? Surprisingly, all are further south than Motueka. 😊
