Watching Elizabeth Warren talk about Trump’s fascism as a distraction last night really broke something in me. Where I used to have this anger at the Democrats for folding to Trump I find myself numb. I don’t know if it’s going to last, but I don’t feel anything about their inaction anymore.

  1. once in a while i wonder if i was too harsh on Warren, but i was right about the person who insulted First Nations, lied about her dear dead colleague harassing her, torpedoed prog colleagues at Drexel, tried to co-opt Bernie’s movement, kneecapped him on a live mic, and took $$ from Arpaio’s funder

  2. This is why Bernie has the crowds. This is why they didn't want Bernie to win the nomination. He was actually bringing the hope that people needed. I don't care what people say, Trump didn't win. The Russians did.

  3. It’s especially disappointing coming from her. She’s usually smarter than that, and she’s always been one of the Democrats’ best communicators. I’m not giving up on her, hopefully it was just a blip.

It's not that the Dems do not have any power to fight the Administration. It's the language. Using the word distraction puts me beyond the point of anger. Words matter. Using the word distraction to describe every purposeful lie and destruction is as weak as weak can be.

  5. I have felt politically despondent since both my Senators voted for the Genius Act. Like, tech bros want to reinvent slavery. And we can't even say no to obvious corruption. These people are supposed to be leaders and don't understand the moment. It's terrifying. And you just want to shut down.

  6. If I hear her or Hakeem or Schumer or any of them say it’s just a distraction I am going to scream. Tariffs were a distraction from the big ugly bill, Epstein was just a distraction from tariffs, tanks in streets is a distraction from Epstein & on & on. They are so worthless.

  7. You're beginning to sound like Matt Taibbi.

Unfortunately, there is a loud echo chamber punching down at any miniscule action of ANY Democrat to demonize the whole party and misdirect our anger at softer targets.

Circular firing squads every day only reinforce the fascist regime.

  8. How many government guns can Democrats command if it comes to that? Does this bill promote social ties between upper military command and the Democratic Party?

Like, if we’re talking a shooting war, things like this won’t be the difference makers but yes, currying favor with the brass does count

  9. She is literally pushing some bullshit issues like "fixing military equipment is too expensive" completely disconnected from reality.

  10. I think the most frustrating part is they literally ran on creeping fascism and Trump is going to be a dictator and what has been revealed is they never actually believed it beyond any another focus group tested messaging.

  11. maybe they can't pass any bills, but they can be as angry as we are. they can participate in the same rallies and marches. they can be as vocal as Newsome. current dem leadership all seem like Neville Chamberlain, thinking it will all work out eventually.

  12. Look: She's human, she's pressured on many sides, and she frequently feels like she must "say something". Don't over-interpret this.

Of all the people who would sell us out, Warren is among the very last.

  13. Seems all of the Senators are in the pocket of big donors. So they push marginal policy differences while ignoring the collapse of freedom and democracy. They don't care who's in power as long as they're getting $$.

  14. It’s like words don’t mean anything anymore. A distraction is when you point and say “look over there” and then steal someone’s wallet. Trump and his cronies are just stealing the wallet while dems tell us to ignore what we just saw.

  15. 95% of them have lost the plot, to put it mildly. New people need to hold office. Everything is terrible, but the responses from the left kinda make me understand why we're here... depressing

  16. Yes. It's numbing. I got there a couple of weeks ago. There's quite a bit of shaming going on when you say you feel this way. Urges just to take a time out. Rest up for the continuing fight.

I'm not a cynic. Our leaders are either out of touch or putting on media shows hoping to become president.

  17. I am sorry to inform you that there are real issues surrounding natl security and the military that require oversight from senators.

Cannot understand how a bill aimed at savings billions in overspending - while making operations more efficient - is worthy of anyone’s scorn.

  18. I believe we have been victims of treachery on our side of the aisle. From those who were supposed to be representing us.

  19. I tell every Dem I know that they need to fight the MAGAs in every manner possible. There is zero remaining good faith.

No incentives encourage cooperation; no penalties discourage bad behavior.

  20. Just a weak ass garbage party. I’ll still vote for them but fuck it, they deserve to lose badly. They’re just begging everyone to give up on their sorry asses.

  21. Warren said Trump being a fascist is a "distraction". Right out loud.

I suppose Hitler building concentration camps was a "misuse of resources that could've been used to grow the economy", while we're failing to see the forest for the trees? 🤦‍♂️

Remember when they wanted her to run for President?

  23. priorities right?! none of them will suffer the consequences of their inaction, they’re rich they can afford that old timey word groceries they can afford medical care they can afford to fly wherever for whatever

  24. I felt this way in 2022 for Reasons but ever since then I've come back over and over to one explanation I can't rule out: they're doing this on purpose because it gets them what they want.

  25. They had their little fucking paddles at the SOTU, then they censured the one guy who showed a bit of fight. This has got to be deliberate. Are they ALL in the Epstein files?

  26. The only conclusion left at this point is that they like what he's doing, and they like that they aren't the face of it.

  27. I simply cannot stop circling back to thinking they're controlled opposition. They not only keep hammering completely braindead messaging, the moment they accidentally land on something that works, like hammering Trump on CECOT, they immediately pull off—Schumer & Jeffries whipped to not mention it!

  28. It used to be the fascists would just call everyone else socialists. That was a distraction from their fascist programming 101 campaign. Now some of us are refusing to speak like we don't know what fascism is, but we do and now we need to reprogram the politicians to use our language instead.

  29. I think they are even more old and depressed then we realize, but also they won't get out of the way so someone has to push them. They only want to engage when they know they can win and it's too late for that. Throw stuff at the wall and make something happen or else there will be no wall!

  30. for me it was when I realized the Elizabeth Warren et als were taking the $11 from those "help us fight trump!" emails and using it to pay consultants who tell them to disregard the swine that shelled out that 11 bucks

  31. I thought prior to inauguration that the best way forward in minority would be to pick the most strategic battles. That would mean things like confirming a lot of awful nominees but going scorched-Earth on the truly unConstitutional stuff.

Bad idea, or a good one the Dems aren't doing?

  32. Stop electing & supporting people who refuse to do anything that might make them miss the early bird special at the Bob Evans.

We have people living in terror & they can't be bothered to remotely pretend this isn't normal & any action is at least action to provide us hope.

  33. How do I even yell at these people? Like Im in a red state with only Republican reps and my local county Dems are just a bunch of old people struggling to do anything within their own state

  34. A party can't really do a genocide and then just go back to their usual shtick. They have no interest in holding anyone to account for that, or even acknowledging the fact. As though doing a genocide comes with no cost.

Putrid, worthless, shambling. I expect nothing from these freaks.

  35. Their fecklessness is unfortunately part of who they are. They are so compromised by donor money, and so much more resentful of the left than they are of the right that I'm not sure they can be fixed.

They are quite consciously on a UK Labour Party trajectory, which is very, very not good.

  36. i mute it whenever she's on now. i'm sick of all these pussyfooting dems. another one is any of them that do the "excuse my language, dangit!" bullshit.

  37. Makes sense — I think seeing one of the elected members of Congress who prides and brands herself as being a “fighter,” using the same tired talking point about fascist actions being a distraction or “diversion” was pretty jarring

  38. This hit me as a tech person during the height of the DOGE nightmare.

I was breathlessly awaiting dems to come back from break and raise hell and demand computer systems be restored and audited.

Then they came back and did... Nothing...
