Try to figure out how Loving v. Virginia could survive his contrived arguments that some folks can marry who they want, b/c “tradition” says so, but other folks can’t because they’ve been denied that liberty for a long time.

I was likewise struck by a bit of this in JD Vance’s recent “we are not a credal nation” based on ideas (“created equal,” “unalienable rights”) b/c then anyone could be “American.” (Hint: he wants “blood & soil.”) It reminded me of Alexander Stephens’ attack on Jefferson in the Cornerstone Speech.
