With Dimension 20 we aren't just staring at our players the whole time, and it isn't unfiltered. They edit for time, and break things up with character art and re-enactments with minis.

That's an interesting question. the text is "a +1 status bonus to attacks". it does NOT say attack ROLLS, but attacks. Using area and Auto Fire weapons has the attack trait, so I'd say yes, they are included with the +1 going to the DC.
