It doesn’t make sense to let go of Bissouma (and it never did). One reason is this is what happens when you press a midfield with limited technical ability:

  1. Frank and Lange don’t really believe in midfield which is absurd to me. I personally would have moved on both Bissouma and Bentancur because it’s do that or give them new deals when they are 27/28. But would have prioritised a passing profile as first priority.

  2. I've been saying this as well. He isn't the right fit for every strategy Frank will employ, but he's a capable player. Removing him means someone else will have to deputize at the 6 and get pulled out of their ideal position.

  3. There’s this wild obsession with the idea of a midfield being played through, but I think the two glaring weaknesses in the squad are a lack of security and creativity on the ball in both deep and advanced midfield areas. Biss at least solves the security part.

  4. We know, with his head switched on, he’s a huge asset to the team. Those final few games of last season.

His problem feels mental, motivation. How much does he want to be here, to be disciplined. To break old habits on and off the pitch.

I believe it is solvable with the right coach and manager.

  5. It does strike me that Frank may be trying to make a point with Biss and its not gone to plan . Truth is we need the best version of biss for games like bournemouth and in general as we lack a ball carrying midfielder
