More women have nearly bled to death during miscarriage under Texas’ abortion ban.

Experts say the trend paints a troubling picture of the harms of unnecessary delays in care.

“This is striking,” one doctor said. “The trend is very clear.”

A new ProPublica data analysis adds to the mounting evidence that abortion bans have made the common experience of first-trimester miscarriage far more dangerous.

  1. Time to get a great legal team for a class action case. Miscarriage and abortion are not interchangeable terms. The State is creating unnecessary harm and risk for all pregnant Texans.

  2. Ask Kat Cammack, Florida Pro-life Republican if she had a life-saving abortion... Cause she did but... She doesn't think other women should... PS she blamed dems for not getting treatment sooner. Lying POS

  3. It isn't possible for many people but those who need obgyn care and are able to move out, should. Take your businesses and staff with you if possible. The only thing MAGA understands is losing business. We would be glad to have you in NJ as long as you leave any incline of MAGA at the door.

  4. The ignorant men in Texas are more interested in controlling people, especially women & minorities, than they're concerned about saving lives. So much for "prolife".

  5. No one should be surprised by this trend; it's exactly what opponents of banning abortion predicted would happen.

  6. They're declaring war on the women who refused to surrender their bodies to men. Murderers. Cowards. THIS is all Conservative Fascists are good for.

  7. the GOP couldn't care less ... they don't care about abortions or women ... or children .. they only care about $$$ and power... anti-abortion rhetoric like and gay and trans gibberish is about their energizing their decrepit unthinking base and hiding their ethical corruption

  8. Also we don’t even know what type of long term damage this is causing to these women’s bodies. This is ridiculous. We are living in the year 2025 not 1825! We have made so many medical advancements this should not even be happening.

  9. America watched in slow motion as LW failed to make Roe federal law as RW stacked courts explicitly to reverse roe, then we watched it happen and women, esp white, STILL voted for GOP..I guess the terrible trannies are real issue people need to worry about. truth? Americans are just dumb as S bigots

  10. "pro-life" people don't care about life they care about control and denying women's bodily autonomy it can't be more clear what their real intentions are

  11. The trend is indeed striking, but I'm not sure if 'striking' is the right word. It's more like a gut punch. How can we expect women to trust the system when it's designed to fail them?

  12. It’s telling that this nation still hasn’t ratified the ERA. And women's rights vary from state to state, while men's rights stay the same nationwide.

  13. Any pregnant woman that decides to live in or visit one of the states with these outrageous anti abortion laws is putting herself and her unborn child in grave danger should complications arise. Why would you do that?

  14. Ya see, when you put bible-thumpers instead of trained physicians in charge of women's health care, you get biblical treatment, i.e. bleeding out or succumbing to infection. Sadly, a multitude of Texas women vote for the men who oppress them. Those men's daughters go to New York for abortion care!

  15. How Republican Christian fascist theocrats politicians in Texas kill women by forcing Christian fascist theocracy on their citizens

  16. What really gets me angry about this is that we told folks what the human cost would be and they would not listen or did not care. Maybe both.

  17. America hates women. That's why they voted for Trump against a woman twice. America doesn't care about women it's like that episode of BoJack Horseman. It was safety for women versus banning guns episode. Yes they banned the guns because women are nothing in America. :-(

  18. Way to go idiot republicans - wasting blood supplies AND risking women’s lives … both of which are immeasurable losses!

  19. TexASS wants to be an all white, male state. No women, no people of color, no children, just white men. Looks like Abbott is creating the first fascist state.

  20. Diminished access to Healthcare has negative impacts in health outcomes?!?! And it disproportionately effects women?!? Who could have seen this coming.

  23. They don't give a shut, TX had stated last year, they are not even going to count any deaths related to abortions and or women dying due to complications

  24. I had two ectopic pregnancies. Without immediate medical intervention I would have bled out. These are not viable pregnancies. It’s providing life saving medical treatment to save a life.

  25. "Now, a new ProPublica data analysis adds empirical weight to the mounting evidence that abortion bans have made the common experience of miscarriage — which occurs in up to 30% of pregnancies — far more dangerous." It is a fight against women, against biology and life.

  26. These fkn people are killing women intentionally!

For what purpose?! To what end?! To try to have them bear children who then could possibly lead a miserable life of practical “slave labor”?!

Give me a fkn break. This is what disregard for human life truly looks like!

  27. Texas Gov (Republicans, in case that wasn't clear): "We don't let women see doctors when they are in life threatening situations, and more women die?? Well that's just nonsense!"

  28. Miscarriage can be complicated and dangerous.

I needed two emergency abortions after much-wanted pregnancies failed, but did not 'come away'.

One foetus had been dead for a month before it was discovered on a scan.

Without those abortions, I could have died.

    #Abortion is essential healthcare.

  29. They don’t care. We are livestock to them. Ad hoc suffering is irrelevant. All they want is more strong backs in the workplace and more blank minds for the military.

  30. The only way this is going to change is if Physicians stake a stand on this. It seems wholly unfair but, that Hippocratic oath needs to start holding some water or women are doomed.

  31. You could not pay me to move myself and my family to Texas. I realize some folks can’t leave due to finances, and I feel for them, but those that choose to stay are a special type of person.

  32. Jonathan Mitchell should face assault or attempted murder charges in every single one of these cases, or lacking criminal charges, a bounty should be placed on his head for each instance.

  33. Texas says "nearly" bled to death, we're waiting for body count before we see the problem

  35. When misogyny runs the nation and the state. Women become statistics like any other people of difference, marginalized.

  36. Legislating any medical treatment is wrong! Period. Legislating any medical treatment because of an interpretation of a 2000 year old fairytale is insane! It is time humanity. It is time to throw off the shackles of pointless superstitions. Believe what you want but leave it out of Government!

  38. Thank you for posting this! We've known this for several years. And, it was predicted immediately after Roe v Wade was trashed. But the media treats the deaths of women & girls because of forced pregnancy laws as though it's of no importance. The GOP hates women. amp.cnn.com/cnn/2022/12/...

  39. Any woman consenting to sex with a man who hasn't had a vasectomy is consenting to being abused. Any man who hasn't had a vasectomy having sex with a woman is abusing that woman. Literally endangering her well-being and her life!

  40. This horrific treatment of women should be on the forefront of every news media and publication but it s taken a back seat to what s more important to the right wing republicans and more women will die.

  41. They have never cared about the health and welfare of women. Subjugation of women has always been the goal. Abortion bans are just one tool.

  42. The state of Texas does not care. There is no decency or civility anymore and the loss of civility is what has dragged this nation into the quagmire it is in. Texas just does not give a fuck about many people.

  43. I don't even live in the U.S and I cried the entire day after the 2024 election results were announced. My husband didn't understand why. I kept saying "Women are going to die." As a mother of a daughter, this direction for the world terrifies me.

  44. I repeat. Again. Getting pregnant in Texas is self-prescribed suicide! Is that too difficult to UNDERSTAND?

  45. Countless research has ALREADY shown that this is what happens after making abortion illegal- lawmakers deny evidence and think they know more than medical practitioners.

  46. This is unacceptible!!! Women shouldn't have to die for someone else's beliefs. #abortionishealthcare I nearly bled out on my mother's kitchen floor because of a 4.5 month ectopic pregnancy in 1971 that I couldnt get doctors to do an abortion to save my life. This shouldn't happen in 2025 or ever.

  47. But I thought Abbott said he was going to get rid of all rapes in Texas, in his retort to those fighting for their rights!

  48. That the Trump administration and Republicans don't give a flying fuck who bleeds to death, who gets rapped, or so it seems are victims of incest as long as they get their own way.
