The Air Canada strike was ended by union solidarity and militancy, and also by the Carney government’s intervention being so early and so tin-eared and ham-handed that it made AC admit being saved by arbitration was their whole bargaining strategy. Then it was gone and the strike ended! Lessons!

Bargaining in bad faith and forcing a strike two months after a half-billion-dollar share buyback wasn't a great look.

  1. I can imagine the scenario where the PM got Air Canada's CEO on the phone and told him to make a f###ing deal. The gov't looks like we endorse paying poverty wages and not paying for hours worked. I'm not taking the blow back on your failure. Canadians support the union's stance, not yours. Do it.
