Technically, ~25% of people of any culture have authoritarian tendencies ... problem with Americans is that much of the other 75% doesn't have a recent memory of authoritarianism in its full glory, and of why it sucks to live under it.

And speaking of restaurants, if anyone in a uniform visits, they should be served politely. Then made to wait an hour to get their order, get the order wrong/stale/cold, get the bill wrong. Waste their time ... every minute they're waiting is a minute when they're not harassing the public. +
