  1. Exclusive: Banks lobby regulators for national standards to curb state influence, sources say reut.rs/4oOxX6i

U.S. banks are petitioning the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to seek national standards for providing banking services that would override state-imposed rules, three sources familiar with the matter said.
Large banks, in particular, are lobbying for uniform U.S. regulations outlining how they can make loans, issue bonds or provide investment banking services, or assess anti-money laundering risks while curbing state powers over their operations, said the sources, who declined to be identified while discussing private talks.
The renewed push for national standards, which is being reported by Reuters for the first time, is part of a sweeping effort by the banking industry to lock in more favorable rules under U.S. President Donald Trump's administration.
The changes would make it easier for lenders to operate, the sources said. They would also curtail states' power to disrupt banks' operations with rules on so-called "debanking," a practice in which banks allegedly deny services to customers based on political or religious beliefs.
Individual states have previously punished banks and barred them from doing business based on lenders' policies on guns, climate change, diversity and other social issues.

  2. NEW: After DOGE outed Mohammad Halimi on social media, Taliban intelligence agents blindfolded and took three of his family members to a remote prison.

They were repeatedly beaten and questioned about Halimi and his recently publicized work for the United States.

Afghan scholar Mohammad Halimi, who fled the Taliban in 2021, had worked to help U.S. diplomats understand his homeland. Then DOGE put his family’s lives at risk by exposing his sensitive work for a U...

  3. I wish I were hearing that at least some judges were finding ways to carry these asylum cases over without an in-person hearing. Or doing virtual hearings. Or doing ANYTHING to stop this travesty of people being arrested at courthouses. Maybe it’s happening?

  4. What happens after CDC is the target of a terror attack inspired by RFK Jr?

CDC staff are receiving calls from assholes who play audio of gun shots.

We don’t know who these people are. But we know who inspires this behavior.

It’s time to FIRE RFK Jr.

    Dear all,

During the NCEZID Town Hall on August 21, some of you may have noticed in the chat a discussion about CDC staff receiving harassing and threatening phone calls. It's been reported that these callers are asking staff if they are resilient and then playing the sound of gun shots.

This is understandably very upsetting to be on the receiving end of or hear about happening. We want to share some information about actions you can take if you receive one of these harassing phone calls. If you receive a harassing or threatening phone call, you should do the following immediately, in this order:

1. If you feel threatened and unsafe, immediately call 911. Your safety is the most important thing and reporting of the issue can happen later.

a. Follow the instructions and information from the 911 operator and other emergency response personnel.

2. When you are in a safe place and can safely report the harassment or threat, report any verbal or physical threats, as well as any suspicious activity, to the Security Operations Center (SOC) through one of the following channels:

a. Security Incident Reporting System

b. Atlanta Area SOC (24/7) Areas Serviced-Atlanta Area, Lawrenceville,
