I'm coming around to the notion that they should have never retired the iconic 1994 - 2003 "Rareware" logo. At least they've been reincorporating bits of it since 2015!
On the flip side, that Kinect era logo is everything wrong with the minimalist design philosophy of the early 2010s.

(Anyone who knows me or remembers me from the old site might recall that I have an odd fixation with the old Rare logo sequences of yore).
Today, some may celebrate the 40th anniversary of @rare.co.uk. This date was adopted a decade ago to commemorate the launch of Rare Replay (happy 10 year anniversary to that collection!).
However!
Rare was actually incorporated on April 16th, 1985, and began trading on July 1st of that year!

It's fascinating reading various replies and reposts from folks who make some pretty bad assumptions about how Rare has operated for the last 23 years.
While there have indeed been blunders and a lack of substantial output (particularly for the past 15 years), most of that is not because [1 of 12]

When Banjo-Tooie was released, Rare offered a prize of a signed character montage, which you could win by counting all the camera cuts in all the Chuffy train cutscenes I did it - and won! Boy they made me work for it

A third-party controller designed to celebrate Rare's 40th anniversary has appeared on Amazon, presumably ahead of an official announcement.
