Medicare for all, paid leave, universal childcare.

Busting up big corporations and tackling Wall Street’s greed.

Getting big money out of politics.

Supporting unions and fighting for higher wages.

If Dems want to win back working people, this is the agenda they must support.

Replies

  1. The US is too dysfunctional to do any of those things. At this point, ruthless prosecution and convictions for MAGA enablers of #Pedochet agenda would be a step in the right direction. Until these monsters are subjected to legal jeopardy, nothing will change.

  2. Canadian. My grand daughter was just born to an emergency c section - mom (my daughter) was critically sick & took about 6 weeks to recover. Bill $0. Mom is on 18 month paid mat leave. We talk a lot about how awful it would be if she was already back to work and had a hospital bill.

  3. Nope. No more "fixes" to the same old system that will never be what we've always deserved.

    Start over.

    1. Ensure in word & deed that basic human needs are EQUAL human rights FOR EVERYONE EVERYWHERE: -healthy food -clean air & water -safe housing -healthcare -education

    2. Remake freedom from there

    1. don't try to shout louder than the extremist. That won't win the debate; that would just make you the next extremist.
    2. There is no state of emergency; So Trump has no right to bypass Congress or deploy the Guard,he just needs the crisis for the tariffs; so he fakes one.

Alt: barack obama is giving a speech on a stage and saying `` do n't boo , vote ''

  5. Adult education for jobs that require specific training. Help with moving expenses to relocate for a new job. Because most Americans are flat broke because of wealth transfers to the rich.

    0
  6. That requires corporate Dems to ditch big money themselves. Corporations have infiltrated the Democratic Party as well.

    3
  7. Can you imagine, if we were not expending so much energy resisting the orange asshole, how far we could get toward those things? I imagine a Blue Union where all people matter. Nothing will change the Magats views on race, gender, orientation, science, etc.

  8. Well, the republicans always find a way to cheat without being called out, and dems need better talking points. IMO

  9. I thought this agenda has been presented to the American people before but a majority chose to vote for a mentally deranged criminal. So much has been analyzed regarding the flaws in the Democratic Party. But they can’t explain why voters rejected the D platform for such a horrible individual.

  10. There needs to be way more than this Robert…..starting with fighting back on what happening in the now, or they will get roasted in the midterms. These issues are SUPER important, and they need to read the room & stop kidnapping & detention centers

  11. It's not that the working people in America don't want all these things that most of the civilized world has. It's just that the system of government in the US, does not allow their passage. Then there is the corrupt judicial system. Finally, where is accountability? eg: Where are the Epstein Files?

    1
  12. The same ones that didn't vote because of the genocide will still NOT vote for them. I will NOT vote for a party that had the power to hit the stop button but didn't. I will NOT vote for and didn't vote for Trump but will never again vote blue because of the genocide of Biden/Harris team.

    1
  13. How about if they started with a vow to stop fueling the genocide? Next, get rid of all the AIPAC paid spies for Israel? The Dems will continue to go south until they finally admit the reason they lost IS THE GENOCIDE! Until then, they're just another genocide party just blue instead of red.

  14. Robert-Our Representatives need to start telling people in extremely simple and understandable words what Dems will do to improve their lives and standard of living and healthcare. All else is noise.

  15. Add "affordable housing for all" if you want to break the movement of young people to the right. We have medicare for all, paid leave, and universal childcare in Canada. But sky-high rents and mortgage rates have moved significant portions of the young to the right, as in the US.

    1
  16. The "working poor" simply proves that those in power are very aware of the true cost of living and blatantly don't care! They know if they keep us focused on survival, we won't notice we out number them by millions to one.

    0
  17. Get off the "Medicare for all" bullshit, already. Medicare IS NOT HEALTHCARE. It is insurance, and insurance can DENY your claim, leaving you no better off than if you didn't have insurance.

60% of all bankruptcies in America are the result of medical debt. We need UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE.

  18. Well as soon as you can get the Supreme League corrupt Court to take back citizens united and get money out of politics we will continue to live in the same fucking corrupt shit hole

    1
  19. If this is what you want USA must raise taxes. Its just stupid to think you can have this without somebody paying for them. Im a swede and it works pretty ok here concerning free education, free kindergarden, free healthcare. Its far from perfect. But our well known high taxes finance all this.

  20. Finding an affordable way to allow Mothers to stay at home and raise children (if they choose). Getting corrupt NGO money and mega donors out of lining corrupt pockets. Hearing and delivering what blue collar workers have been shouting for. This is all already the Republican agenda and why we lost.

  24. ...and getting Americans out of Palestine.

Rule-of-law only exists if laws benefit everyone equally. That has never happened in the history of the world. It is still an aspirational virtue.

Nothing short of rabid, cult-like, commitment to rule-of-law will redeem Democraps.

  25. The biggest change I would make for the House of Representatives and the Senate is changing the voting system. Have voters use the multi-member district ranked ballot Single Transferable Vote system by state to elect the representatives. Use the single-member ranked ballot to elect the Senators.

  27. Eliminate the cap on Social Security contributions. This is the game changer because corporations will have to pay the matching funds and will show young people that it will still be there for them

  29. The problem is the @democrats.org method.

Socialized medicine has repeatedly failed ... in the EU, UK, and Canada.

So, the Dems have no solution. The approach of take from the billionaires is simplicity snd hubris.

  30. Union leadership has to do something to actuallly lead. I am in a union shop and I only make 20 K more than I did 32 years ago and my benefits are much worse. Leadership saying "it woud be worse without us" does not substantiate their 180k salary. I was a grievance chair for a decade. Never won one.

    0
  31. Dems haven’t done a great job in a long time. They’re just gentler about it. NY introduced the Health Act (single payer) in 1992. Dems have held all branches of the gov for years. Our leaders tell us to our face they “of course support it” but then refuse to bring it to a vote. 1/2

    1
  32. Sadly, the top Dems and their consultants suck at the teats of the oligarch and near-oligarchs. Do they hate maga? Yeah, but I wonder if they hate "the left" even more.

    0
  33. Even “working people” see the most important job ahead is to Restore Article One duties to congress. Everything else is aspirational at this point. If dems just flip the house in 2026 they can restore congressional oversight and slow down Trump’s illegal power grab. THAT is the winning message, sir!

    3
  34. And they won't. They are our enemy, the faster people accept that the faster we can move on.

  35. And yet, sadly, half the country said " no thanks!... I'm voting for the union busting, convicted (34x)felon, adjudicated rapist, serial adulterer, pedo and pussy grabber! He'll make eggs 50¢ cheaper!!".. 😔 SIGH.. what's the plan to deal with the racism and sexism that voted that BS back into power??

    0
  36. And… they have to do better at messaging. They need to figure out how to get those points across to the people who have “checked out” of politics.

  37. Legislators should not be able to invest in the stock market. It’s a conflict of interest. They should put their investments in a blind trust and vote for the interests of citizens rather than the interests of their stock portfolio. Same for any business they own — they need to recuse themselves.

  38. There has t/b a way of dealing with rising prices resulting from employees wage increases, rising CEO salaries, investor greed for higher profits. The most hurt, increasing senior homelessness shows, are ppl on fixed incomes.

    0
  39. Sure. Easy peasey.

The Dems are too busy tearing into each other. They cry out "why can't any Dem stand up and grow a spine and fight". Then when one does, they're like "NO NOT YOU. SOMEONE ELSE".

Then a week later: "why can't any Dem stand up to this administration and fight!"

    0
  40. Yes, but need to enumerate more what we are for in a serious way. D's support financial responsibility, a goal, trend to balanced budget; are for law and order, with education, community relations, modern techniques; for strong border, and resources/judges to fast track and vet, For enviro, edu etc.

  41. And ending the genocide in Gaza and blatant pandering to Israel.

If we’re being honest, Mr. Reich.

Many allegedly liberal pundits seems to have absolutely no clue how much of a turnoff AIPAC’s bitches in Congress are.

  42. There's more money backing big corporations, Wall Street, and lobbyists than there is backing working people. Until benign attitudes among the billionaire class start parting with even 1% of their net worth to support working people, it ain't gonna happen.

  43. No more of this “I deserve 5 more votes” bullshit. Please add ‘Independent Citizen Redistricting Committees’ to be the LAW OF THE LAND! I’m looking at you TEXAS! No. More. Gerrymandering. ANYWHERE.

  44. Happy Labor Day! Celebrating the 40-hour work week like it’s 1938… because it literally is from 1938. 🙃

Technology has improved slightly since 1938. Maybe our schedules should too?

    A 32-hour work week sounds sublime 🤤

    #LaborDay #32HourWorkWeek #EatTheRich #RankTheVote

  45. Medicare for all sounds great. But, we need an educational system to nurture and guide students into various fields such as the medical profession. We also need FREE higher education and not a "for profit" system we currently have that essentially financially enslaves people.

    1
  46. When someone who hordes objects like the rich horde money they’re “made” to change their behavior. It’s not about resources, mental health, education, insurance - it’s the concentration of money (wealth) to a minuscule number of people that keeps those things out of the reach of everyone else

    0
  47. Sounds simple; and addressing the actual needs of the people. Seems worth a try to me-- and even here on Bluesky, there are those who shy away from such talk, and express resentment of the 'criticism' of the party it implies.... which says something sad about the party functionaries.

    opsan @opsan.com

Fun(!) Fact: In every election, between 80 and 100 million eligible voters make this choice: THEY DON'T VOTE. We must tap this bloc.

Run on 3 CHANGES: Healthcare for All, Fair Economy, and Fair Taxes. MAKE SOME PROMISES. Convince them it is their best interests to vote for us.

    0
  49. All true! And we had better find a way to take back control of this narrative! Reverse the trend that suggests liberal is a bad word! When in fact of course it's the very word that speaks to allowing people to share their thoughts, feelings and ideas openly in peaceful exchanges! Leading innovation!

  50. The WHITE working class, to be clear. Example, the black Teamsters were so upset about their union's endorsement of Trump (and I'm waiting for you to explain THAT), they created their own caucus.

Because THIS BOOK has the reason they vote Republican, that you don't talk about.

  51. When Citizen Action canvassed USA in Single Payer Wellstone era is when I discovered Bernie. Still a fan I was a staff trainer with C.A. & traveled to offices throughout the USA helping retain staff, boost fundraising, etc. Lots of organizing with Unions.

What did I learn? Most folks loved the idea

  52. Secretary Reich - we bust up big corporations because we lack confidence in our ability to effectively regulate successful businesses.

Nearly every problem we currently face will require effective government regulation to solve. Now is the time to improve governance, not [47] dismantle it.

  56. Dr. Heather Cox Richardson today: "Historically, a system in which local economies support small businesses and entrepreneurs promotes a wide distribution of political power. In contrast, extractive industries support a system that concentrates wealth and power in the hands of a few individuals."

  57. Yes! Universal Health Care. Massive investment in public transportation. 4 day work week. National holiday for elections. Bare minimum every democrat should support.

    0
  58. I agree with this agenda except busting up big corporations. We can go a lot farther by working with them and not working against the hand that creates the jobs that pay for the entirety of this agenda.

    0
  59. Racism is why those things aren't a thing in the USA. The big government programs that created middle class white people, disappeared when all were granted access. Civil rights laws are why white voters are on the red side.

  60. universal basic income - guaranteed housing for all - no one hungry - universal living wage - Everyone equal no matter what you believe who you love who you are. Billionaires aren't going to give it back, we the people have to #TakeItBack 💪🗳️ #LaborDay #UnionStrong

  62. WE HAVE MEDICARE FOR ALL. REMEMBER? ANYONE CAN GET ON IT. I HAVE BEEN ON IT FOR THIRTY YEARS. IT IS A TOOL FOR BIG PHARMA, TO EXPERIMENT WITH NEW DRUGS ON ANYONE. IT DOESNT WORK. We need SOMETHING VASTLY BETTER THAN MEDICARE FOR ALL. IT ALL READY EXISTS.

  63. I would love it but the oligarchs in this country still think of that bullshit phase of pulling up your boot straps and get on with it . And the POIR magats think the same way. Even though they can’t afford boots or straps

    Pro supporting all immigrants

    Food security

    Guaranteed housing

    0
  66. Some kind of single payer certainly.

But I'm not a fan of Medicare. It's expensive, complicated. Part A, Part B, Supplemental, Part D, and Vision and Dental are all separate programs, and except for Part A have to be paid for.

And it still relies on private insurance too much

    0
  67. Dems should not need to “win back” working people. People need to be educated and informed and stop voting against their own best interests.

You don't know it, but I've trolled you 4ever about whining "sans plan." Yes, these are things a Modern Democracy should take for granted. Yet we all know they may be out of reach.

And if you believe they are? Then I have the only answer: Make Vicious Capitalism a Mortal Sin ‼️

  72. The mega wealthy taxed accordingly would be nice.

Build affordable housing as fast as prisons.

Remove a couple laws for every new one created..

    0
  73. Also: Securing the right to vote for women / POC, by mail, by registering online, by registering same day, strengthening laws against racial gerrymandering, etc.

Not just universal childcare but help other caregivers and their family.

Strengthening public schools and making higher ed affordable.

  75. The crazy thing is, if America gave back more to its citizens and improved living, working and health conditions the whole country benefits. Including the very rich, whose companies would grow from increased sales. Trumps proposed dictatorship & ongoing tariffs & BBB will cripple the economy.

  76. I'd like them to lead with the Union agenda...

They got to get back some of that white blue collar male vote.

    That's just math.

  77. Dems need to figure out ways to pass their messages to the people that bypass the media. The media is currently controlled by the MAGA and they tell lies and fail to report important stories.

    0
  78. Ya, good luck ! You will have to deal with the brain dead military to accomplish that task, and they have been brainwashed to kill their own grandma in such a situation 😹😹😹

    0
  79. . Come on! It has ALWAYS been that way!

It's just that the Republicans LIE and give away FALSE PROMISES and MAGA sucks it up. Can't compete with LIES. "War stopped day one"; "Grocery prices lowered day one", and on and on.

We can't LIE that big. We appeal to legitimate people - the MINORITY.
