Amazon announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

  1. Robert, the whole monetary system and banking system is rigged. It's a perpetual cycle of debt that never gets repaid. While only a handful ever see actual profits.

  2. You can be 100% sure predators won't stop being predators on their own. Predators want more prey. When prey is plentiful, predators kill for only one part of their victim, and discard the rest. Once neutered, their consumption drops significantly.

  3. People vote for leaders they think will help them do better in life, but are misled by the pageantry and the merchandise and the wild promises. In truth, our politician are only concerned with the rich and think of the poor as dumb peasants, easily misled and so gullible.

Totally rigged, Robert. And after they lay off all the humans and replace them with robots and AI, who do they think will be able to afford their products and services.

  5. Those rich, grossly overpaid CEOs probably pay a lower federal income tax rate than their companies' workers, too, thanks to Republicans' repeated tax cuts for the rich. That's also a big part of rigging the system.

Over time, it shifts the US tax burden onto the middle class Republicans despise.

  6. 😡...Yep those non-tax paying Billionaires sure deserve a tax cut they create so many jobs...🙄

  7. They’re passing the money ‘saved’ by laying off staff directly to their sociopathic CEO’s whose strategy this is. It’s the greed of the CEO’s which is creating the misery and suffering that all those layoffs represent. 😡

  8. If you're mailing any packages for Christmas. Mail them early. I'm in CA and what usually takes me 5-7 days to receive from the East coast took 15 days. None of this had to happen. We're all paying the price for the stupidity of some voters and Musk and Doge.

  10. For 4 yrs Biden added new jobs EVERY MONTH 48 mos in a row. Since Trump has taken office he has increased unemployment for the past 10 mos. Each mo. Job loss exceeding Joe’s mo. Job gain numbers. So much for winning!

  11. When the people creating the value are the ones getting cut, and the people making the cuts get richer, it’s hard to pretend the system isn’t warped.

  12. Business must be dropping if they are hanging on to their ceo paychecks. Wonder when it gets to the point where they get laid off.

And I was just telling my friend every time we had layoffs at our global medical device company anyone left had to do 2 FT jobs while the c-suite got huge bonuses for failing. Then after downsizing they would go out and buy a distressed failing company and we had to clean up the dysfunction.

  14. And their effective tax rate is lower than the middle class. And the republicans they put in office want to cut it even more.

  15. I was laid off from Discovery Communications in 2021. That year, Zaslav booked $220 million. I handed off my duties to 7 different people so Zaslav could hit his bonus.

  16. The workers are disorganised and have no power in our system.

This is exactly what the rich want.

With these layoffs they attempt to get to pay workers as little as possible.

One day the whole system will implode, and we will all be asking why.

  19. Do you see this as a natural conclusion of the relentless investment into “productivity” or a poor understanding of the incremental impact of the CEO? Unfortunately at higher levels there is just no data to compare and estimate incremental impact

  20. Billionaire and CEOs like this aren’t people and should not receive the deference to humanity we all share; creatures like them need to be destroyed if the rest of us want a planet to live on.

  21. 69 million why ? How could this person be worth that much . No one is . He’s not doing a very good job at all , if he had to lay off that many people. Rot starts at top.

  24. My smart ass mind asked:

Does Amazon carry those "boot straps" we're supposed to pull ourselves up with?

Seriously thinking my tombstone will carry these words:

  25. I think this would hit harder if you used the language of people, not mechanical processes. Instead of “it’s CEO made”, say “Jeff Bezos kept”… These aren’t things that happen. We are talking about what people do.

  26. And (most of) the companies outright say that they're laying them off due to increased use of AI in their logistics or AI R&D Costs.🙄 Amazon: apnews.com/article/amaz...

  28. The greed is disgusting.

This is why we need higher taxes for the wealthy instead of tax cuts for them.

No one should make that much a year.

And if corporations can afford to pay that much but do not want to pay LIVABLE WAGES, let’s tax the hell out of them too!

Maybe we need a wealth caps?

  29. CEO pay often reflects the pressure of leading massive companies and making tough calls that impact thousands.

Layoffs, while difficult, can be necessary for survival in a shifting economy. The focus should be on fixing broader issues.

  30. When you speak to a CEO, you quickly realize they honestly feel they are worth more even than their ridiculous pay packages. That they add far more value than that, and thousands of times more than others.

In other words, they have no connection to reality. They must teach that in business school.

  31. $40 million is a little over 600 average wages or in other words one man receives 600 years worth of the average wage per year.

  32. It’s always been rigged. It’s just so much more obvious now under this criminal regime. The US is a hugely corrupt country. When you allow politicians to appoint judges, law enforcement officers & accept huge donations from corporations etc, there will never be justice for the hard working people.

Maga doesn't benefit but regular Americans who travel for work or adventure lose and for what?

How many times have we bailed out airlines?

Verizon to lay off 15,000 employees (20% reduction). While new CEO Daniel Schulman compensation $1.5 million base pay. In addition to performance based Equity awards that could be worth up to $59.5 million dollars. Gosh he really will have to budget 🤔

  45. Stop buying from Amazon people. Try to buy from the smaller privately owned stores. Things might be a bit more expensive but you’ll save on the things you used to buy on Amazon but really didn’t need. If you live in an area with little options only buy what you really need.

  47. People are training AI to do their job...but they are under instruction to do so. Train yourself out of a job down the track or leave now and we will find someone else who will. Who benefits from this model? CEO's. Multimillion dollar companies. Under the guide of economic sustainability.

  48. Perhaps 5000-10,000 MAGA oligarch and MAGA politicians, including the White House, are stealing trillions of $$$ from 340 million Americans. Business leaders have embraced greed and competitive theft. There has to be a reckoning.

  50. In South Korea, there is a law where companies can't do mass firings for no good reason. Google had to offer packages to convince their programmers there to leave on their own to downsize. That's better, bc it gives choice to the worker to leave rather than a traumatic, unplanned exit.

  51. The system is rigged, yes but what really stands out is the greed and shameless promotion of wealth. It only exists because there's a willing audience who exalts this 'in your face 'I'm rich, look at me' culture. Why do you think the Kardashians made all that money?

As this progresses every quarter who will continue to purchase their products and services? An Easter Island 🗿 economy, what will be left when they cut the last tree?

  54. The "system" should be a "representative government" the "representatives" should be representing their constituents (almost all of them not billionairs); and the government should collect proportional taxes from everyone including billionaires & corporations.

  60. All of these examples should be taken over for the national interest. That's too much control over the economy and the services they provide. Or, give them the Ma Bell treatment.

  62. CEO pay of $40M isn't the problem. And companies aren't obligate to employ anyone they don't need. The problem is the way Capitalism as we practice it rewards ownership with so much money and so much power that they can exclude and exploit all other contributors.
