Incidentally I think that approach will boost test scores as well.
-
but hes cut funding to them
-
Honestly, I don't think empathy is something that can be taught. You either have it, or you don't.
-
It needs both tbh
-
I agree 💯!

6 hours each day for 180 days will not only solve the children problem , but by osmosis 280 million older Americans will also become decent human beings. Said no one with a functioning brain.
-
Absolutely

Vietnamese saying: In Hell, people are chained to 6 foot long chop sticks and starve; In Heaven, people are chained to 6 foot long chop sticks only there they feed each other.
-
You will never get that with the squares at the top. Too many decades of competitive GPAs have left academia with a personable personality deficit. They would treat this exactly like a drab compliance power point.
-
The Billionaires will not go for that
-
And dear parents, we can teach our kids critical thinking and empathy. 💙🔥😄

Building is the relatively easy part. It's the staffing that can be difficult.
-
I hated when testing became the be all and end all. Still remember a kid I had who was BRILLIANT and had many creative ideas who absolutely foundered when taking a test--because he couldn't track lines with his eyes properly, and put answers in the wrong line.
-
Ah, you got part of it right, YES, we need better humans.
Can't teach that, it's your personality.
Everyone's brain is wired differently, can't change that.
-
Public money must stay in public schools…stop subsidizing private schools & bullshit Christian “schools”…
-
I just wish no child's behind was part of the pedo equation.
Raygun and W fucked all of our kids.

Lack of Empathy results in Evil
-
You'll have to get rid of the hate machines that are all over cable TV also.

Exactly

People who can think will invent a better world. cbwrong.blogspot.com/2025/08/soci...
I Could Be Wrong.
-
Don't see that happening soon.

Schools were created as they currently exist to train factory workers to minimal literacy and to follow orders. With grades by age, no choices for students, constant punishment, and a pipeline to prison, we have to completely throw out the current system and current teacher training
-
That stuff needs to start at home being taught by parents. I'm a teacher. We try to model, encourage, and explain these concepts, but the foundation has to be established from the start at home. I'll help develop it, but I need something to work with.
-
Or indoctrination into right wing christianity.
-
Religion teaches belief without thought, they call it faith. Get the children out of the churches and teach them how to think and not look to confirm the biases their faith tells them!
-
My son’s HS principal said it best:
“I don’t want our kids to be the best IN the world, I want them to be the best FOR the world.”
-
-
Yes exactly
-
Why are we under the impression that many schools don't already do this?
-
Sorry. I am not seeing the profit. You know what country you are in right.
-
The two are not mutually exclusive.
-
Once power shifts, we will need to clean house on everyone who bent the knee for that fucker and let kids see there are consequences for it
-
Schools are teaching empathy, critical thinking, and collaboration, certainly not compliance. Yes, there are rules to be followed, but that is needed in any organization. The big problem is parents trying to run the classroom from seating chart to assignments. Teachers are scapegoats.

✊🏾

I believe you are on the right track. Assuming people should have these skills is dangerous. All the skills you've mentioned must be nurtured and trained in people. Without them, we just kind of... mess up. Good kids make mistakes but don't always see it, and I believe people can be better.
-
Don't let this happen!!!
-
You mean like in Europe? Yeah, you should.
-
Yes, please!
-
Teach the Constitution…Every year.
-
Civics would be nice and our history with all of its ugliness
-
You have to get Captain Turd Stink out of the way first...
-
Not going to happen in red states
-
It's called parenting.
-
Oh, but that’s too “woke” for the white Christian Nationalist Puritan crowd. ☹️
-
When the president is a person who stands against all of those things and perpetuates evil, fraud, corruption and hate while republicans cheer and applaud his awful behavior, it's kind of hard to teach children to be good. Children see republicans supporting hate and evil and think it's a good thing
-
And better test scores will naturally begin when you teach empathy, critical thinking and collaboration.
